He faces charges related to the alleged murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10 at Utah Valley University.

Presiding Judge Tony Graf read the seven charges to Robinson, who was given a court-appointed lawyer after being deemed indigent. Prosecutors have filed an intent to seek the death penalty, citing aggravating factors in the case.

The next hearing is scheduled for September 29 at 10 a.m. local time (16:00 GMT).

Details presented before the court show that evidence collected by investigators, including DNA on the suspected murder weapon and a texted confession.

According to the prosecutors, the suspect “intentionally” targeted Kirk because of Robinson’s “belief or perception regarding Charlie Kirk’s political expression.”

Below are the charges:

“Count 1, aggravated murder, a capital offense for intentionally or knowingly causing the death of Charlie Kirk under circumstances that created a great risk of death to others.”

“Count 2, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, a first degree felony.”

“Count three, obstruction of justice. A second degree felony for moving and concealing the rifle used in the shooting.”

“Count four, obstruction of justice, a third degree, a second degree felony for disposing the clothing he wore during the shooting.”

“Count five, witness tampering, a third degree felony for directing his roommate to delete his incriminating texts.”

Count 6, witness tampering, a third degree felony, for directing his roommate to stay silent if police questioned him.

“Count 7, commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child, a class A misdemeanor, for committing homicide knowing that children were present and may have seen or heard the murder and did so based on Charlie Kirk’s political expression.”
