The Suhum Municipal Fire Service retrieved the lifeless body of a one-week-old baby boy from a toilet pit at Ali, a suburb of Suhum, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, following a successful early-morning operation.
A swift response team, comprising 11 members and led by ASTNO Danso Henry, responded to a distress call at 6:30 a.m. and arrived at the scene, near Gateway Preparatory School, at 6:44 a.m.
ADOI Aaron ADU Ohemeng confirmed on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that the team conducted the operation and recovered the baby’s body at approximately 7 a.m.
Preliminary findings suggest that the tragic act was allegedly committed by the baby’s mother, who fled the scene.
The body has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
ADOI Aaron ADU Ohemeng commended the brave Suhum Fire Rescuers for their prompt response, professionalism, and dedication in handling the matter.
