Ghanaian gospel musician Rose Adjei has disclosed that while her debut album, ‘Nyame Ye,’ was a monumental success in launching her career, it yielded no financial returns.
The musician revealed in an interview with Eddie Ray, host of the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, that despite the album propelling her into the limelight, she personally did not profit from the project. This debut success was later followed by highly popular tracks such as ‘Agya Wahwe Meso,’ among others.
Adjei reflected on the album’s impact: “My first album was what brought me into the limelight. It was a solid, powerful album, and by the grace of God, every song was a blessing. It was an instant hit, featuring nine songs and one instrumental track. Unfortunately, however, I did not make any personal money from this album. It was very successful and beautiful, but it served primarily to introduce Rose Adjei to the industry. People became aware of my songs, but they didn’t yet know who I was.”
The artist remains optimistic about potential future returns, quickly adding, “Although I didn’t make money then, I am hopeful I will still get the money because my songs are still available.”
Rose Adjei firmly stated that her motivation for gospel music is not to amass wealth, but evangelise. “The songs I release have a way of blessing lives and transforming destinies, and that is what my music has accomplished throughout the years,” she noted.
She shared that despite being in the industry professionally for 12 years, she feels her position has yet to be firmly cemented by the industry. However, she remains optimistic that those who have embraced her brand have been blessed, and she believes that “with time, people will come to understand the ministry and accept her.”
Adjei insisted that her ministry is specifically dedicated to evangelism, not financial gain.
“I am pursuing this as a form of evangelism, and when I do it well, God will open doors for me. Through the grace of God, I have been provided for with what I will eat, wear, and where I will sleep. The Bible says we should seek first the kingdom of God, and all other things will be added; that is what I am doing, and I am focused on the kingdom business. I am not rich, but I am comfortable.”
