Bawumia is credible, competent, and possesses the political and governance experience needed for the presidency – NPP

Asiedu Kokuro, the Deputy Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asserted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains a credible, formidable, and competent candidate. According to Kokuro, Dr. Bawumia is fully prepared to lead the party to victory in the 2028 general elections.

He emphasised that the party established a free, fair, and transparent internal election process. He noted that the outcome was accepted by all competing candidates, reflecting the party’s internal unity.

“The delegates who voted understood the capabilities of the five candidates and decided on who was best to lead them,” Kokuro stated.

Highlighting the candidate’s extensive political background, the party executive member noted that the NPP is “lucky” to have Dr. Bawumia on the ticket.

He pointed out that by 2028, Dr. Bawumia will have 20 years of political experience, having spent eight years in opposition, eight years as Vice President, and served as the party’s leader for the 2024 election.

“He has both the governance and political experience. If you look at his core character, you will admit that he is humble and very calm,” Kokuro added. “He is a highly intelligent individual with a first-class background in economics, which gives us significant leverage for 2028.”

When addressing why these credentials did not result in a 2024 victory, Kokuro explained that the NPP started its first term with a superb economic record until the global impact of COVID-19 intervened.

He maintained that every election cycle carries unique dynamics and issues.

While the 2028 elections will differ from 2024, Kokuro is confident that the party is well-prepared.

He believes that by then, Ghanaians will begin to see the long-term dividends of the NPP’s policies and governance.
