The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a case of unlawful entry and stealing at Spintex in Accra.

According to the police, the suspect was arrested following a complaint that on March 4, 2026, a resident returned home from work around 4:00 pm and found that her house had been broken into. Cash totalling GHS 1,000 and USD 22,350, along with other valuable personal effects, had been stolen.

Acting on intelligence, the police arrested the suspect, Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on 11th March 2026.

A search of his room led to the recovery of the stolen items, along with several other suspected stolen items, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones, and a television set.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence and mentioned an accomplice identified only as “Ewonam”, who is currently at large. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accomplice.

The police disclosed that the suspect will be put before the court on Monday, 16th March 2026.

It noted that the service is working around the clock to trace the owners of the stolen items and has therefore urged individuals who have lost items in such circumstances to contact the CID Headquarters.





“We are working to trace the owners of the remaining recovered items and urge anyone who may have lost property under similar circumstances within Spintex, Teshie, Nungua, and surrounding areas to contact the CID Headquarters to assist with identification.”
