NPP will also arrest your people after 2028 for the same reason you’re arresting us today – Sir Cocroach

April 16, 2026
NPP-and-NDC-scaled

Lambert Appiah Rockson, aka ‘Sir Cocroach’, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South, has issued a stern warning that a future NPP administration will subject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to its own current tactics following the 2028 general elections.

He asserted that the NDC must be prepared to face the same wave of arrests they are currently spearheading against NPP members over social media posts and public commentaries directed at the president.

While appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the aspiring parliamentary candidate characterised the NDC government as a collection of hypocrites.

He argued that the current administration is unable to tolerate the very same brand of criticism and scrutiny they once levelled against former President Akufo-Addo and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Appiah Rockson clarified his stance by stating that he does not condone or support the use of insults against the president or state officials.

He maintained that regardless of one’s dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, personal attacks should never serve as a vehicle for political critique.

However, he was quick to point out that the NDC lacks the moral authority to complain about such issues.

He referenced past instances where then-opposition figures, such as Malik Basintale, made unsubstantiated and inflammatory claims against Dr Bawumia. Rockson noted that despite false allegations regarding the former vice president’s personal habits and faith—claims that were deeply offensive to his Islamic background—no arrests were made at the time.

In a direct address to the current administration, Rockson emphasised that the precedent being set today will dictate the political climate of the future.

“I don’t support or condone people who insult authorities. Regardless of what opinions you have, you cannot insult the president. He is our validly elected president. But the NDC is hypocritical. They have no moral right to make comments about this. I know that although we have freedom of speech, we have to be responsible in our commentaries. I want to tell the NDC to be prepared because we will do to them what they are doing to us today in equal measure after 2028. Whatever they are doing to us, we will do the same to them.”
