The deputy minister for education joined the academic community at Oyibi on Sunday to witness the formal induction of Professor Daniel Ganu as the new vice-chancellor of Valley View University.
The ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, marked a significant milestone for the institution as it navigates a transition in leadership and renews its commitment to faith-based academic excellence.
Delivering a speech on behalf of the minister for education, the deputy minister described the appointment as a significant vote of confidence in Professor Ganu’s vision and professional discipline.

Dr Apaak emphasised that leadership at the tertiary level now requires a unique blend of strategic foresight and the ability to foster unity within the academic community.
He noted that the new vice-chancellor’s stewardship would be instrumental in ensuring the university remains a relevant and impactful force in Ghana’s higher education sector.
During the address, the Deputy Minister highlighted the critical role of chartered private universities in shaping the nation’s future.

Valley View University was commended for its consistent track record of producing principled graduates who balance academic competence with strong moral values.
Dr Clement Apaak stressed that in a global economy driven by rapid technological change, the primary goal of higher education must extend beyond mere job preparation.
Instead, universities are tasked with cultivating critical thinkers who possess the integrity to lead in various sectors of society.

He also used the platform to reiterate its commitment to supporting private educational institutions through policies aimed at improving quality and expanding access.
Dr Apaak also made a call for increased synergy between academia, industry, and the state to ensure that research outputs and degree programmes directly address national challenges in health, agriculture, and technology.

The deputy minister argued that knowledge remains incomplete without character, urging the university to maintain its spiritual and ethical foundations.
Addressing the faculty and students, the deputy minister acknowledged the staff as the backbone of the institution and encouraged the student body to pursue their studies with curiosity and purpose.

The ceremony concluded with a collective call to view education as the primary engine for national transformation, with the Ministry expressing high expectations for Professor Ganu’s tenure to bring about a new era of innovation and growth for the university.
