Police have arrested a male and a female nurse at the Salaga Government Hospital in the Savannah Region following the sudden disappearance of a day-old baby.
The newborn reportedly went missing shortly after delivery.
Family members stated they were initially informed that both the mother, Priscilla, and her child were in stable condition after a safe delivery.
Suspicion arose when the mother was transferred to another ward without her baby.
According to a relative, Balik Majik Ebenezer, the family questioned the hospital staff about the child’s whereabouts.
A nurse on duty claimed she assumed the mother had taken the baby outside to breastfeed and was unaware the infant was missing.
The family promptly reported the incident to the authorities, resulting in the arrest of the two nurses. A police investigation is currently underway to locate the missing child.
