The Ghana Police Service has taken six private security guards into custody following a violent confrontation in Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21, 2026, which left politician Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo injured.
According to an official press release issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit in Accra, signed by Superintendent Ms. Juliana Obeng, police personnel from the National Operations and Intelligence Directorates responded to a distress call from a local residence while on special duty.
Investigators revealed that the incident unfolded during a ceremony at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, popularly known as Akofena.
Trouble began when Hon. Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and requested entry but was turned away.
In the ensuing confrontation, private security personnel stationed at the house allegedly opened fire.
The gunfire left Hon. Adwoa Safo injured, and her vehicle was later found riddled with multiple bullet holes.
A subsequent search of the property led authorities to seize a substantial cache of weapons, including five pump-action guns, a Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an extra magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, and various communication devices.
The six arrested suspects, along with the confiscated weapons, have been moved to the Police Headquarters to assist with the ongoing inquiry. Law enforcement officials stated that they are actively pursuing additional suspects connected to the shooting.
