A swift intervention by firefighters from the Amasaman Municipal Fire Station on Thursday, June 18, 2026, prevented what could have been a catastrophic disaster at Spot-M Lumba Down, where a kitchen fire threatened a three-storey residential building.

The crew, led by ADOI Theodore Tagbor, deployed immediately after receiving a distress call. Upon arrival, they found the fire aggressively burning in a first-floor kitchen.

Firefighters launched an immediate tactical attack, successfully containing the flames before completely extinguishing them.
“The team acted with extreme urgency,” reported the Greater Accra Regional Public Relations Officer. “Led by Assistant Divisional Officer Grade I (ADOI) Theodore Tagbor, our firefighters managed to rapidly bring the blaze under control before extinguishing it entirely, successfully stopping the fire from migrating to the rest of the building.”

While the fire entirely destroyed the kitchen and its contents, and left the living room with partial damage, the crew’s efficient response saved the ground, second, and third floors, along with the bulk of the building’s property.

No injuries or casualties were reported. Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
