Police deploy special operations team to Nkwanta following deadly attacks

The Ghana Police Service has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to the Nkwanta South Municipality following a series of recent attacks that resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.

Dispatched on June 20, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from the National Police Headquarters in Accra, the specialized unit is tasked with reinforcing local security and restoring order while investigations into the violence continue.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor of the Oti Region Public Affairs Unit, authorities assured residents of a sustained security presence and heightened vigilance.

The police have urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with law enforcement, and come forward with any credible information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
