Law enforcement officers have arrested Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba at Accra International Airport following an alleged attempt to access frozen funds.
Mr Aludiba, who is currently standing trial for stealing and causing financial loss to the state, had previously been granted permission by the High Court to travel to the UK for a few days.
However, according to a statement issued by Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai, the arrest was triggered by an attempt by Mr Aludiba on Thursday to use unlawful means to empty his frozen bank account with Republic Bank.
The Attorney General’s office has confirmed it will approach the High Court on Monday to seek a formal review of the order that originally permitted Mr Aludiba to leave the country.
