The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the deployment of modern, state-of-the-art security screening equipment at Accra International Airport.

The upgrade, installed at passenger screening checkpoints across Terminals 2 and 3, is aimed at boosting aviation security while significantly improving the overall passenger experience.

Under the new security arrangements, travelers will no longer be required to remove laptops and other large electronic devices from their cabin baggage during screening.

Passengers can also proceed through the checkpoints with their footwear and belts on, unless otherwise required during security profiling.

Furthermore, Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels (LAGs) can now remain inside cabin bags, as separate screening for these items will no longer be routinely required.

GACL management has, however, reminded passengers that the standard security regulation prohibiting LAGs exceeding 100ml in volume per container remains strictly in force.

To ensure faster processing and reduce transit times, a new Automatic Tray Return System has been integrated to quickly return trays to passengers for the repacking of divested items.

According to the airport authority, migration to the new system will be done progressively and in phases, running alongside existing procedures and equipment.

Announcing the transition, the Management of GACL stated: “The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is pleased to announce the deployment of new, state-of-the-art security screening equipment at the passenger screening checkpoints in Terminals 2 and 3 of Accra International Airport.”

”This upgrade is designed to enhance aviation security screening while improving the passenger experience,” the statement added.

Management of the Ghana Airports Company Limited has requested the cooperation of all passengers and stakeholders as operations with the new equipment commence in the coming days.
