Eminent economist and member of the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE), Kwame Pianim, has showered high praise on Vice-President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, naming her as his favourite economist.
Mr Pianim made the heartwarming disclosure in Accra during the official launch of the “Thank You Teacher” National Raffle, an initiative organized by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).
Delivering his remarks at the event, which was attended by the Vice-President and several top dignitaries, Mr Pianim highlighted her deep-seated compassion for the vulnerable and her consistent drive to ensure that state economic measures deliver tangible benefits to everyday citizens.
“One thing I like about her, she is my favourite economist. Whenever we are talking macroeconomics at the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy, she always says how does it help the single mother in the village, the women entrepreneur, how does it help the young girls walking in the heat selling things, how does it help the young person in Ghana?” he stated.
He further noted that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang regularly grounds the advisory board’s deliberations, keeping the human aspect of financial policy at the forefront of their work.
“She makes you realize that macroeconomics, everything boils down to the well-being of the average Ghanaian and if the political elite of Ghana were to have 10% of her empathy for the poor, this country in 10 years time will be better than Singapore,” Mr Pianim emphasized.
