The new Director–General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi, has proposed an increase in the number of supporters admitted to our stadiums for the ongoing league.
He said the current Covid-19 situation and how we have managed ourselves as a people show we are prepared to have the number of supporters increased from 25% to 75%.
Football fans were banned from attending matches in the men’s premier league, the women’s premier and the men’s division one league due to COVID-19 restrictions in February.
But the Sports Ministry, in a statement, disclosed that the various match venues would admit only 25 per cent of fans with strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.
The GFA was tasked with ensuring directives are strictly followed, with all COVID-19 protocols enforced.
But Prof. Twumesi speaking to Worlanyo Wallace indicated that Ghana has managed the Covid-19 outbreak well.
He said it would not be a problem for the number of supporters to be increased with strict adherence to the Copvid19 protocols.
He was reacting to how some football fans forced their way into the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday after they were denied entry because 25% of supporters had already been admitted.
