Former Player and Head Coach of Liberty Professionals(The Scientific Soccer Lads) Coach Ofori Asante has shown his displeasure concerning the relegation of his former club.
Speaking to Isaac Warlanyo Wallace concerning his former team, relegation to the National Division One League next season, he said the team, has disappointed their supporters.
He opined that the philosophy of the club (Liberty Professionals), has been depleted through the poor performance of the entire team body.
“Liberty Professionals is one of the clubs in Ghana that develop and train players, that is the philosophy of liberty Professionals. The philosophy is not to buy older players from different clubs. The club was founded on an academy philosophy rather than the buy, buy philosophy,” he said.
He added that Liberty Professionals’ ability to stay in the league for 22years since 1999 is because of their philosophy.
” The Liberty I played never bought, players. I played for five(5) years before I was promoted to the senior team. Liberty has bought about 15 players this season, and that has never been the philosophy of this club,” he said.
Coach Asante concluded that they hope and wish that Liberty picks up at the National Division One League to secure promotion back to the Premier League next season.
Liberty Professionals’ has been relegated to Division One after their 22 years stay in the Ghana Premier League.
Their long stay ended on end on Sunday, 18 July 2021, after playing out a 0-0 with King Faisal on the final day of the competition.
