Ghana has finally won a medal at the ongoing Olympics after twenty-year-old Samuel Takyi defeated Colombia’s David Avila Ceiber in the featherweight division of the Olympic boxing event in Tokyo.
He has therefore booked a semi final spot.
He would win a bronze medal in his yet to be staged bout irrespective of the outcome.
He is expected to take on American Duke Ragan in the semi final fight on Tuesday August 3.
It is Ghana’s first Olympic medal since the Black Meteors won bronze at the 1992 games in Barcelona.
