President Akufo-Addo has congratulated Samuel Takyi for winning bronze in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
The President said the young boxer has managed to make the nation proud in winning a medal for the country after 29 years.
”Big congratulations to Samuel Takyi from all of us at home, for hoisting high the flag of Ghana at the Tokyo Olympics, and for winning a bronze medal, Ghana’s first Olympic medal in 29 years. Well done,” the President said.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that the state will pay out a financial reward to the boxer and any other athlete who would win a MEDAL.
According to him, gold medals winners would get $5,000, silver medal winners $4,000 whereas bronze medal winners are expected to receive $3,000.
