The Ministry of Sports, Hon. Ussif Mustapha has disclosed that The head coach of the senior national team, Coach C. K Akonor is not owned by the Sports Ministry, as reported by some media houses.
The Minister was speaking to Rainbow Sports’ Isaac Wallace during the sword cutting of the Borteyman concerning the brouhaha surrounding the unpaid salaries of the head coach of the senior national team.
Hon. Mustapha in response to a question posed to him stated that the ministry isn’t owning the head coach of the senior national team.
“. I can say emphatically that the Senior Coach of the Black Star’s of Ghana, Coach C.K Akonor has been paid off his salaries since I assume office as sports minister. You can cross-check from C.K Akonor himself,” he stated.
Hon. Mustapha stated that Black Stars is well prepared and hope they will excel and make Ghana proud.
“The team have had the necessary preparation, and the President through me sent a good wish message to the team. I know the games won’t be easy, but I can confidently tell you that Ghana will perform well on their qualifications game and proceed to the world cup,” he added.
He added that the ministry has put in place measures to secure a will structured facility to host the All African Games.
“We have put in place measures to build and renovate some of our stadiums that can be used to host the All African Games here in Ghana. We are hoping to build a new ruby square at the Legon stadium, which will help in the games as well,” he added.
