Sports Minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif on Friday, December 3, 2021, on behalf of President Nana Addo, commissioned a newly constructed Astroturf for the people Of Mankessim.
He commissioned the project together with the MP of Mfantsiman Constituency Hon. Ophelia Quansah Hayford.
The beautifully constructed edifice according to him is the 89th Astroturf so far constructed under this current government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuf-Addo.
The project was formally started by the late Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford, /the former and late MP who was murdered by suspected armed robbers.
The Astroturf is to help develop the youth who are much more interested in football and other sporting disciplines.
The Minister indicated that there were only two astroturfs in Ghana when the president took over the office but since he took over office, he has increased them to 89.
He advised the youth and residents to maintain the facility so it would last long.
He said the one district one astroturf project is to ensure that the government develops sports in the various districts so Ghana would develop new talents who would represent the nation on the world stage and make the country proud.
He further advised them to desist from the use of illicit drugs since it would prevent them from realizing their dreams.
He stressed that you can’t use drugs in sporting activities and so, I am urging you to desist from illicit drugs, develop yourselves and make your nation proud.
