President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo-Mensah has expressed shock at claims by his Third Vice President Mohammed Mahadi that it has become difficult to work at the GOC.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 Fm he said it is unfortunate for the Third Vice to have made such comments.
According to him, if the comments attributed to the Third Vice were true he [Nunoo-Mensah] is shocked.
Mohammed Mahadi had stated that it haD become difficult working at the GOC.
When asked to disclose what the GOC had achieved since taking over office, he told host Wallace Worlanyo Wallace that he would not be able to disclose that.
According to him, such a question should be directed at the President, Ben Nunoo-Mensah.
He explained that his focus is to manage the issues relating to the federations and athletes in Ghana.
He indicated that it is very difficult for him to say anything because he does not have the facts.
But reacting, Mr. Nunoo-Mensah said he was not sure Mahadi was referring to the GOC in Ghana because they have achieved a lot.
”If he said that then that was unfortunate. Maybe he was not in Ghana when we were working to achieve what we had achieved.”
”I am not sure he said that. But he did, then It would be best you ask him to disclose if he was referring to the GOC. I have explained to you what we have achieved for Ghana sports,” he added.
He said the Bronze Medal Ghana won at the Olympic Games was remarkable because it was the first time in 30 years we have chalked that feat.
He commended staff at GOC for what the hard work, commitment and dedication to the GOC.
He was optimistic that Ghana would make more gains in the next Olympic Games.
