WILL HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF AS GHANA COACH NAMES SQUAD FOR AFCON?

The Senior National Team, the Black Stars Of Ghana has named its 30-man provisional squad that is likely to represent Ghana at the 202 African Cup Of Nations in Cameron.

The team is optimistic to win their 5th trophy after the last one hosted in Libya in 1982.

Black Stars is going into the tournament with history backing them as the last time they won the competition was in Libya in 1982.

The team that won the cup in 1982 had a player called to the national team that plays for RTU in the person of the soccer maestro Abedi Ayew Pele.

Aside from him, the team also had a player who also played for the Accra Great Olympics in the person of Aquaya Maclean.

The recent call-ups made by the head coach of the national team include players from the two teams.

David Agbana of RTU and Maxwell Abbey Quaye of Accra Great Olympics.


So as history favours them the last time can they win this time?

Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac has named a 30-man provisional squad for the 2022 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Coach Milovan has handed call ups to four debutants namely, Khlaid Abdul Mumin of Vitoria de Guimaraes and Salis Abdul Samed from French Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot. Others are Maxwell Abbey Quaye from Accra Great Olympics and David Abagna of Real Tamale United.

The Black Stars began camping on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in Doha, Qatar for a 17-day training camp in preparation for the Cup of Nations which kicks off on Sunday, January, 09, 2022.

The Black Stars will play three friendly matches while in Qatar. The Ghana Football Association has already concluded talks with Algeria while engagements are on-going for two additional matches.
