Speaking about the bout, Promoter Alex Ntiamoah revealed that the bout is local and does not involve any foreigner.

“This is an independent celebration fight, we normally organize this on every Independence Day. It involves two Ghanaians, George Ashie and Robert Quaye”. He said.

He used the opportunity to also call for support from corporate Ghana.

He noted that it has become difficult for promoters in Ghana to organize bouts hence the need for corporate Ghana to support them.

“Yes, it is very difficult to promote boxing in Ghana”. The support for boxing in Ghana is not like we see in football, and other sporting Disciplines. Boxing is one of the sports that unearth talents in the country, and Ghana has got a lot of benefits from boxing. We then call on corporate bodies to support us promote boxing in Ghana”, he added.

He further complained bitterly about the charges by managers of the Boxing Arena.

“The charges for the Bukom Boxing Arena is too high. Yes, we do understand the situation, but we plead with the authorities to do something about it for us to help promote boxing in the country”.
