Returning a gross score of 218 over three days was enough for the treasurer of PGA of Ghana, Dawuda Mahama to win Mahogany open Championship at the Samartex golf course in Samreboi over the weekend.
He said the course was not playing too long but the putting greens were a bit difficult so he used his experience to beat Brave Mensah the second time in the calendar year who appeared to be Mogabi in seniors category in Ghana lately.
Center of the World man Victor Brave Mensah also scored plus ten (+10) over course par to place second. Whiles Robert Degbe played thirteen over to be crowned second runner up in the championship.
Other cash prize winners in the seniors category of Samartex Mahogany open were Peter Korsah, Frank Assorgbah and Ato Kwamena Asankomah scoring 237, 238 and 253 gross respectively.
The experienced Achimota Dawuda Mahama who beat Brave Mensah with five strokes to win the competition had earlier beaten him in Samsung PGA Captain’s prize tournament held at the Celebrity golf course in January this year.
He said he wants to continue his supremacy over his competitors in the seniors division in Ghana so we should look forward for more on the road to OBOTAN and other pro events in the country and beyond.
