The National Sports Authority boss Professor Peter Peter Twumasi, has stated that there is no report to support claims that the Cape Coast stadium was rejected as the venue for the Ghana versus Nigeria playoffs.
He explained that all cubs and stakeholders were informed of an intention to use the Cape Coast Stadium for the 65th Independence Day parade, but later the NSA got to know the stadium had presented to CAF and FIFA as the stadium to host the match world cup playoffs between Ghana and Nigeria.
He disclosed that the FA was asked to change the Stadium, but theY claimed it was too late to do so.
”So it was agreed that after the parade, we would recover the pitch quickly. We took steps to work on the pitch, and it is now ready for any international match.
According to him, there are several factors in deciding the venue for an international game and if someone should say the Cape Coast Stadium was rejected as the venue for this game is false.
Meanwhile, he has revealed the team from FIFA that inspected the Baba Yara Sports Stadium were satisfied with the condition of the pitch, and Ghana met the mark, he added.
He said the intention is to have a certification to make the Baba Yara Sports Stadium would be a CAF approved stadium.
He was speaking to Worlanyo Wallace on Rainbow Sports on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
