The Ghana Bible Society of Ghana has called on Ghanaian Christians, institutions, groups, and other bodies to support them in their quest to engage in a meaningful distribution of the Holy Scriptures and to help everyone interact with the Word of God.
Computer Assisted Publishing Officer, Mr. Mathias Dery says it cost them $20 to translate a verse from its original Hebrew and Aramaic language into the local languages of Ghana
For this reason, he has appealed for support from the Christian communities and individuals.
He said churches in Ghana have supported their work but like Oliver Twist, they would need more support to embark on their work.
He was speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
He said as a non for profit organization spreading the word of God, they would need support to achieve results.
The goal of BSG is to reach every home with a Bible in a local language they can read and understand.
Currently, the Bible has been translated into 9 major Ghanaian languages, namely, Asante Twi, Akuapem Twi, Ga, Mfantse, Ewe, Dagbani, Dangme, Nzema, and Esahie.
The Society is also working on Dagaare Old Testament, Gurune New Testament, and Bono.
Meanwhile, the Society is set to launch Special Ga-English Diglot, a Bible with both Ga and English translations.
