The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumesi, has expressed gratitude to supporters who stormed the Kumasi Sports Stadium for Ghana’s play-offs against Nigeria.
He described the organization of the game as largely successful and was happy the stadium will filled to capacity.
He stated that “there was no major casualty recorded at the stadium and so we would want to express our gratitude to Ghanaians for the support. I would also commend the Ambulance Service, the Police, the Military, the GFA, the Sports Ministry, and other stakeholders”.
He disclosed that CAF and FIFA were happy with the organization of the game.
He further thanked the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and residents in Kumasi for the show of love and support.
Speaking to Worlanyo Wallace on Rainbow Sports, although they face d challenges with the E-Ticketing, the process was 99.99% successful.
”The E-Ticketing was successful. That was what made the stadium full. It was better and we must commend Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for introducing it. The process of selling the ticket was excellent”.
When asked to disclose the amount generated from the game he said they had seen an encouraging figure although efforts are underway for the system to disclose the total amount.
But so far, we have seen an amount of GHC1.4 million as the amount generated adding, ”it is unprecedented. We have not seen this before. We will take our time and get the appropriate figure but what I have seen is around Ghc1.4 million.”
