Chief Executive Officer of Ash Town Ladies, Frank Todd has described as good news the decision by Malta Guinness to sponsor the Women’s League.
Speaking on Rainbow Sports, he noted that the sponsorship would enhance women’s football, and encourage the footballers to do better and better opportunities for them.
He posited that the sponsorship will promote women’s football, make it better and also create opportunities for them. We had chased this sponsorship for 18 years and finally, the company has decided to sponsor the league”.
It is good news for all of us. It will relieve us of some financial burdens we had suffered in the past. We want to see women’s football grow and this sponsorship is a step towards achieving that goal,” he added
Frank Todd went on to state that personally he was happy about the sponsorship and persons managing the women’s league must do their best to woo other companies to develop an interest in sponsoring the league.
He underscored the need for accountability and transparency adding that “we need more sponsors. Women’s football is not just football. We need to invest in it and make it better. It will create opportunities for our talented young girls and women.
Women’s football has paved the way for several talented footballers to join the security services and gain scholarships to study abroad. We have struggled for years and so, this sponsorship is great news.
