Traders of Buffloaf in Oforikrom, Ashanti Region, have staged a protest over what they call the high cost of commodities for their trade.
The vendors, wearing red armbands, stopped selling Buffloaf on Wednesday, October 26, due to the high cost of inputs, particularly the cooking oil.
Maame Ama Serwah, speaking on behalf of the Oforikrom Buffloaf Fryers and Sellers Association, said they are pleading with the government to turn things around as soon as possible in order to save our business.
They want the government to lower the high cost of living, particularly the cost of cooking with oil.
According to them, some Kumasi Traders are stockpiling cooking oil in order to raise the price.
They are expressing their displeasure with Nana Addo’s ruling NPP over the country’s high cost of living.
Protesters also expressed concern about the cedi’s depreciation, which they claim is crippling many businesses.
