Effective Saturday, October 29, 2022, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) will increase transport fares by 19 per cent.
The GPRTU said the increment was necessitated by the continuous hikes in the prices of petroleum products at the various fuel pumps.
Transport fares went up by 20% in June 2022.
As of May 9, 2022, when the new fares took effect, petrol and diesel were selling at a national average of GH¢9.41 and GH¢11.12, respectively.
Diesel and petrol are currently selling for more than GH15 and GH13 respectively at major fuel pumps.
