Caterers who sell gari and beans popularly known as ‘gobe’ in the Central Region’s Twifo Atti-Mortwa district have threatened an indefinite strike.
Due to the high prices of the ingredients used to prepare the popular local dish for their customers in the district, the caterers have threatened strike action.
According to them, the popular meal became one of Ghana’s most popular local delicacies because it was inexpensive.
However, it has become prohibitively expensive, and their customers are unable to return.
They complained that the meal’s ingredients, such as beans, gari, oil, and other ingredients, were too expensive.
Customers complain bitterly about the quantity of food served to them, which, according to the sellers, is not their fault but rather the high cost of commodities.
The sellers are pleading with the government to address and find a long-term solution to the persistent depreciation of the cedi against the dollar, as well as to stabilise the country’s speeding inflation, so that they can continue to prepare the people’s food.
