The Muslim Community in Obuitumpan, Koforidua, has honoured businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Mr. Mascot Samuel Amiah for his contributions to the community.

The citation was presented to Mr. Amiah in appreciation and recognition of the enormous support he has provided to the Muslim community in the area where he was born and raised.

The Muslim community stated in the citation that the businessman has truly demonstrated to the entire world that Muslims and Christians can coexist without religious animosity or differences.

”We have been reliably informed that giving and hospitality is your habit and that didn’t start on you. It started from your late father, the father of all, Mr. Amiah who used to0 be one the great leaders who took good care of this village that has now become a town, not a village anymore.”

Mr. Amiah is said to have donated three plots of land to the Muslim community to build a Mosque and an Arabic School for the community.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline, he revealed that the Mosque’s construction was completed and commissioned just a few days ago.

“I was born and raised in the community,” he explained. Muslims and Christians have lived together as if they were brothers and sisters. We do everything as a group. When they celebrate Eid, we do it together, and when we celebrate our festive seasons, we do it together. As a result, we have lived in the community as brothers and sisters.”

“I felt like we needed to love each other. I saw the need for Islam to be present in the community because we used to see how they lived and did things in the community when we were kids. But, as that was dwindling, I felt compelled to assist them so that the community could continue to feel their presence.”

According to him, he pledged to the community after his Muslim cousin passed on to the Muslim community to set up an Islamic school and a Mosque about four years ago.

‘So when there were ready, I honoured my pledge. But most importantly, it does not matter if you are a Christian or a Muslim. The most important thing is that love should be the best.”
