Ghanaian award-winning artiste Black Sherif was detained yesterday (Wednesday, July 19, 2023).
He was arrested upon arriving at Kotoka International Airport after a successful European tour.
According to new information, a cruise ship music event expressed interest in booking Black Sherif for a performance.
A $20,000 deposit was received, however, the contract did not include a requirement for promotional videos for a press launch.
The organizer allegedly threatened to cancel the contract should the musician refuse to send the promotional videos.
This resulted in a refund of the initial deposit by the singer’s agents.
The complainant insisted on being reimbursed $50,000 instead of the initial $20,000, leading to further disputes and alleged threats.
The organizer then filed a complaint with Ghana Police Service, alleging a violation of the contract with the singer’s agency.
After returning from a successful European tour, Black Sherif was stopped at the airport to assist with the investigation.
