Perez Musik, a gospel musician and songwriter, believes that while smoking is not a sin, it is unhealthy.
In an interview with Rainbow Radio’s mid-morning show, the musician stated that smoking will not prevent a person from going to heaven.
However, it is unhealthy and detrimental to the individual’s health.
He made the remarks while speaking with host Sokoohemaa Kukua.
He was talking about his experiences with smoking, clubbing, and alcohol.
During his time at university, he claimed to have been more than a chain smoker.
The sound engineer said he picked up smoking at level 100 until it became an addiction.
Meanwhile, he has revealed that his greatest regret is that he did not accept God’s calling when it first came to him.
He claimed that despite several prophecies that he would do the Lord’s work, he remained stubborn.
He said that if he had accepted the calling when it first came, he would have been much bigger than he is now.
But he quickly added that it was God’s way of preparing him for what was to come.
”The only regret I have is that when I got the prophecies when I was young, I should have paid attention to God and the things of God early in my life. I would have progressed far better than I am today. That is the only regret I have. But in a way, I thank God because the Bible says all things work together for God for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. I believe whatever I went through was God’s way of preparing me, so my life and my experiences will become the message I will preach to people.”
Perez Muzik said it took the grace of God and counselling for him to quit smoking, and it was not easy.
He noted that at some points he relapsed because it was extremely addictive for him.
He also mentioned that when you quit smoking or other unhealthy behaviours, you must change your circle of friends and environment if you are prone to relapse.
”Smoking is not a sin, but it is unhealthy. Smoking will not keep you from going to heaven, but it is unhealthy. God will not cast you out of heaven because you smoked, but it is unhealthy. If you value your family and children, you will not smoke.”
