The Coalition of Aggrieved Menzgold customers has called the statements made by Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of the defunct gold dealership company Menzgold, also known as NAM1, that they have compensated over 5,000 customers “false.”
As a result, the Coalition has challenged NAM 1 to publish the names of all people he claims to have paid.
Mr. Fred Forson, the Coalition’s Public Relations Officer, describes NAM 1’s announcement as “lies.”
He remarked on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that NAM 1 has no intention of paying the aggrieved customers.
NAM 1 faced public outcry for ordering customers to buy a GH650 Menzgold Digital Verification Access Card to confirm their transactions and upload supporting papers from August 10th to September 14th, 2023.
He emphasised that the company wants to address claim inconsistencies, implying that unverified claims may result in customers losing their locked-up assets.
He has since retracted the statement and requested customers to verify it for free.
In response, Mr. Forson stated that NAM 1 has continually given them false optimism for the future, and as a result, they no longer take him seriously.
He then cited him for contempt and of court questioning on what legal grounds he released the statement and asked them to pay for verification.
According to him, the case was currently in court, and NAM 1 had no legal right to release the statement for Ghc 650.
He emphasised the need for the state to deal with him so that they (customers) could have closure on the problem.
“Whether the verification is free or for a fee, NAM 1 is unwilling to refund our money.” I am requesting that members avoid NAM 1. Customers should believe nothing he says. He is unwilling to pay us. As of 2021, the Coalition had 10,336 members. We know there are more customers. However, I have published the number of members.
I can certainly declare that he has not paid anyone, and we are daring him to provide the names of individuals who have received payment from him. He is telling lies, and I warn clients not to believe him. The company is bankrupt, and he is being prosecuted in court. He is now in the realm of contempt of court. We’d like to know if the court authorised him to take this action.”
