Eight people were killed in a car accident this morning at Gomoa Potsin Junction on the Kasoa Winneba route in the Central Region.
Several others were seriously injured as a result of the accident.
The accident involved a Daf Cargo Truck with the registration number AS 8740 S and a Hyundai H100 with the registration number GN 4475-19.
According to an eyewitness who told Rainbow Radio Reporter Oheneba Ademah about the tragic incident, the Hyundai H100 was fully filled with passengers on its way to a funeral.
Their bus was travelling from Agona to Kasoa when it crashed with a Cargo Truck travelling from Kasoa to Winneba.
He said that a water tanker was ahead of the Daf Cargo Truck and attempted to deviate from the main route, but instead of slowing down, it raced into the lane of the Hyundai.
Those who were injured were taken to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Winneba Fire Service Divisional Commander, DO2Kwesi Hughes, confirmed the occurrence to newsmen and has advised vehicles to slow down because the stretch is prone to accidents.
He said that this was due to the Daf Cargo Truck driver’s failure to slow down since the water tanker was branching.
