Member of Parliament of Ofinso North Constituency, Augustine Collins, is calling on all parties involved in the chieftaincy issues within the Offinso traditional area to remain calm for due process to take its course.
There have been some chieftaincy disputes in Offinson since the death of the Paramount Chief of the area, Nana Awiafe Akenten III.
On April 28, 2022, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II turned down a request from Queen Mother Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko to accept GNPC Boss Dr. KK Sarpong as her choice to ascend the Offinso stool, a decision that didn’t go down well with some of the youths in the community.
Adding his voice to the issue, Augustine Collins urged the parties to calm down because Asantihene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was taking steps to solve the issue peacefully.
“God has ordained Asantihene for us, so if you don’t carefully think about his decision, you won’t understand. So I will understand the youths who want to demonstrate against Otumfuo for his decision to rethink and put a stop to it.”
“We should rather pray for him because I firmly believe that Offinso will rise from this when the dust settles,” Augustine Collins said, as aired on Rainbow Radio Accra.
