The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported 44 fire outbreaks during the 2023 Christmas celebrations.
According to the GNFS, this represents an increase in the number of instances registered in 2023, which has been a serious source of concern for them.
They claimed that the bulk of the 44 instances documented on Christmas Day 2024 were domestic, followed by business, car, and electrical system fires.
The Ghana National Fire Service reported that no one perished as a result of fires on Christmas Day.
“The Service recorded a total of 44 fire outbreaks on Christmas Day. Out of the total fires recorded, 19 were domestic, nine commercials, eight bushfires, five vehicular, two electrical installation fires and I crown fire involving a coconut tree. The out-on-arrival fire cases recorded were nine,” a statement from the Service noted.
However, they reported that several total prank calls bothered them throughout the Christmas season.
