The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), through its Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, has appealed to the public to assist in tracing the family members or relatives of a woman believed to be in her 60s, who was found at Agbogbloshie in Accra.

The woman, identified as Madam Rose Okraku, is currently in the care of the Department after she was reportedly found stranded and unable to locate her destination upon arriving in Accra.

Members of the public with information, the Assembly said, could call 0241856401 or 0243211345 to assist the Department in reuniting Madam Rose Okraku with her family.

According to the Head of Public Affairs at the AMA, Mr. Gilbert Nii Ankrah, information available to the Assembly indicated that Madam Okraku allegedly boarded a commercial vehicle, popularly known as a trotro, from Kasoa Market to Accra on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

He said upon reaching Accra, Madam Okraku could not identify where she was going, a situation that raised concern and led to her being assisted and handed over to the appropriate authorities.

He said preliminary information gathered indicated that Madam Okraku had been diagnosed with dementia and was undergoing treatment.

He noted that her condition may have contributed to her inability to properly identify her destination or locate her relatives after arriving in Accra, adding that the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development had since taken custody of her and was working to ensure her safety while efforts were made to locate her family.

He urged anyone with credible information about Madam Okraku’s relatives to contact the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development of the AMA.

He encouraged families caring for elderly persons, especially those with memory-related conditions, to take extra precautions to ensure their safety whenever they moved around or travelled.
