George Emil, Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party in South London, believes it would be disingenuous to dispute the economic crisis affecting Ghana.
While recognising that the country was experiencing an economic crisis, the predicament was not unique to Ghana, he said.
He explained that several other countries are facing economic crises, including the United Kingdom and the United States of America, among others.
George Emil, speaking to Dr. Ren on Rainbow Radio 92.4 FM, UK, said interest rates, high cost of living, depression, and other crises are biting hard at UK citizens, just as we are experiencing in Ghana.
“It would therefore be politically disingenuous for anyone to dispute the crisis going on, but the person ought to be candid and situate the crisis on a global stage when speaking about the crisis in Ghana.
He said “we admit that there are economic challenges confronting Ghana. But these challenges are not limited to Ghana. It is a global problem. It will be disingenuous for anyone to claim that there is no crisis going on in Ghana. But while admitting to these challenges, we have also put measures in place to address them.
The government, led by President Akufo-Addo, is handling the crisis. He and his team have put in place measures aimed at resolving the crisis. We can assure Ghanaians that the NPP is the only party with the capacity to manage the economic crisis. We have what it takes to make the economy better.”
He told the host that the government’s policy efforts, particularly the free Senior High Policy, had helped transform people’s lives.
He went on to state that this administration has improved the housing sector, used digitization to fight corruption, address revenue shortfalls, and enhanced services rendered by several state institutions.
