Four months ago, in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated 26 candidates for district and municipal chief executives, who are now awaiting confirmation from their local assemblies.

The President’s nomination of the new candidates was to fill the vacancies of the 24 DCEs and MCEs who had been relieved of their duties by the President.

Mr. Wilkinson was among the MCEs retained by the President.

When asked why he survived the revocation of the appointments of several of his other colleagues, he attributed it to his outstanding performance.

He extended gratitude to the president for having faith in him and keeping him in office.

“I knew I was not going to be sacked. The reshuffling did not affect me because of my hard work. I was hardworking and dedicated to my job, and that was why the President maintained me as the MCE.”

He said this on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM with host Kwabena Agyapong.
