An inquiry is under way in Ghana’s Ahafo Region after a security guard at Mim Senior High School reportedly solicited sex from a female pupil.
The allegations sparked outrage among local residents, who subsequently attacked the officer.
Education authorities are examining statements from both individuals to establish the circumstances surrounding the event before determining a formal course of action.
Samuel Jatong Larri, the Asunafo North Municipal Director for the Ghana Education Service, confirmed that officials interviewed the student alongside her parents and separately questioned the guard.
A comprehensive report is being prepared for the regional directorate. Officials emphasised that safeguarding the girl’s welfare and mental well-being remains the central priority throughout the process.
“We interviewed the security man. We also interviewed the girl in question in the presence of her mother and the father. So the security man narrated his side of it. The girl also did the same thing. So we are putting the reports together…we will forward them to the Regional Director,” he said.
“When it happens like this, the girl is our main focus. We are focused on how to protect the girl in terms of psychological trauma that she would be going through,” he added.
