A speeding cab with the licence number GX 8200-22 allegedly crushed a retired pastor to death.
The incident took place in Krispo City, a Kasoa neighbourhood in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The deceased has been identified as Joseph Kwaku Koranteng, a retired pastor of the Apostolic Church of Ghana in Gomoa Nyanyano.
According to some eyewitnesses, the man believed to be in his 70s was crossing the dual carriageway from the left side to right to check his BP status when the speeding taxi crushed him to death instantly.
The body has since been conveyed by the police to the Mother and Child Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
The driver of the taxi has also been arrested and is assisting the police in their investigations.
One of the eyewitnesses who knew the retired pastor narrating the incident stated that he had gotten out of a commercial vehicle when he suddenly noticed the sad happening.
“I didn’t realise he was the one. I was not present when he came around. But when I got out of a car, I saw a speeding taxi run him over. He was in his seventies and about to turn eighty.”
