An 18-year-old male who was in police custody in Bimbilla allegedly committed suicide while in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region.
The young man has been identified as Mbornlen Abass, also known as Agogo. Police apprehended him on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, after Pinimkpel Nampar accused him of taking GH¢2,000 from him.
Despite his denial that he stole the money, the 18-year-old male was held in a police cell overnight.
According to the information provided, an officer went to buy food for the accused and when he returned, he continued to call him but received no response.
He unlocked the cell only to find his lifeless body draped across the ceiling with a blanket.
The dead body was later conveyed to the Bimbilla Hospital for preservation.
The deceased has since been buried.
