Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Mr. Akwasi Owusu Afrifa-Mensa, has called on party members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally behind Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to ensure victory for the party in the upcoming December elections.
The legislator opined that contrary to assertions, the man is arrogant and rude; the opposite is the truth.
He described him as intelligent, confident, courageous, and competent, which some mistake for arrogance.
He said the choice of NAPO, as he is affectionately called, has remained dedicated to the party and has over the years demonstrated passion to serve the nation and his party.
He believes “he is the best for our party. His choice as running mate will secure us victory in the upcoming elections. He is dedicated, he has served the party well, and he has been our MP for Manhyia South for years due to his quality and competence. He is qualified, and the pair with Dr. Bawumia is an excellent choice, so let’s support our candidate for choosing him.”
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 86.5FM, he stated that the NPP will work hard to break the 8-year-jinx and retain office, so Dr. Bawumia and NAPO will take over and protect the gains made under President Akufo-Addo.
He also expressed concern that, at a point, the delay in announcing the running mate created some tension, to the point that it was as if the party was preparing for a presidential primary.
He was, however, quick to add that the process has ended and NAPO has been elected, and the way forward now is for them to rally behind the party towards victory in 2024.
