The brand ambassador for Unity Link Money Money Transfer, Adwoa Saah Boateng, with sponsorship from the non-bank financial institution, has donated some items to the Children’s Hospital in Accra.
The donation forms part of the ‘Kai Fie Project’, which seeks to give back to society, especially by Ghanaians abroad.

Speaking to the media, the media personality and former beauty queen and staff of Rainbow Radio International said the ‘Kai Fie Project’ was launched to give back to Ghanaian children expecially those who have deprived conditions.
She noted that it is important for Ghanaians living abroad to always lend a hand to deprived children and orphans, which “is why Unity-Link Money Transfer has sponsored this initiative. It is good to remember your people back home and, most importantly, deprived children and orphans.”

She revealed that one of the criteria she imposed before taking the ambassadorial position was that the corporation fund the ‘Kai Fie Project’, whose primary goal is to assist underprivileged and orphaned children.
The Children’s Hospital, she added, was selected for the reason that it offers specialised care for children.
“The very moment Unity Link approached me with the deal as their ambassador, I gave them one cindition to honour me with this initiative to support children. I did so because I value children a lot. Children are important to me as a person. I left Ghana abroad to build my family. But while abroad, I felt the need to also support children back home, no matter how little it was. We did not really consider several hospitals, but for the fact that I heard of Children’s Hospital, I felt it was important I come over and donate to them.”
Items provided included exercise books, biscuits, diapers, beverages and water, and baby food, among other things.

AGHc20,000 was also donated to the facility, which the management revealed will go into the hospital’s trust fund, which will provide support to deprived children whose parents lack the funds to provide healthcare for them.
Adwoa Saah Boateng later led the team to interact with some of the mothers and their children and personally donated an undisclosed amount of money in pounds sterling to be shared with the mothers and their children.

Director of the Hospital, Dr. Maame Yaa Nyarko, commended Unity Link Money Transfer and Adwoa Saah Boateng, for the kind gesture.
She assured them that the money would go into the fund, which offers assistance to mothers who are unable to pay for the cost of treating their children.
She said several children are brought to the hospital with medical conditions, but their mothers are unable to pay their medical bills.
She explained that the hospital began as a nutritional rehab clinic for malnourished children, but has since evolved to provide outpatient department services to children aged zero to eighteen years.
Aside from that, they have a specialist clinic that treats children with serious diseases like asthma, sickle cell disease, obesity, and malnutrition, as well as paediatric surgery.
Some of the issues she discovered for the hospital included access to water, consistent energy, and leaks caused by the age of some of the buildings.
She appealed to other NGOs and philanthropists to extend a hand to the hospital.
