Yagbonwura Building-Kunuto Soale Jewu, the Gonjaland’s paramount chief, has issued a directive prohibiting Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor from accessing any palace in the Gonja kingdom.
The traditional monarch issued the injunction after accusing the MP of breaking local traditions and insulting traditional authority. The Minister has also been accused of meddling in local traditions.
The traditional ruler’s interpreters, speaking at a press conference, stated that the MP’s constant meddling in things that should be handled within traditional boundaries causes widespread discontent and disaffection.
Any chief who will grant the Minister audience would face severe consequences.
“The king will never grant audience to any government delegation, political party, or any person who pays him a visit once it includes Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor until he learns his tradition as a royal and learns how to respect the authority of the Yagbonwura. This statement is final and binding on all paramount chiefs within the Gonja kingdom,” he said.
At the conference, some of the young people also expressed their disappointment in the Minister.
They brandished placards bearing various inscriptions.
They include, “Abu Jinapor, enough of your selfishness and arrogance’ and ‘No more undermining of traditional authority’ among others.
