The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has announced that a new administration under his watch will scrap the betting tax.
He pledged that a new NDC government would scrap the tax and find other alternatives for the revenue shortfalls.
He said this while interacting with young people at a town hall meeting organised at the Bukom Arena on August 12, 2024.
The former president also promised to scrap the E-Levy, saying that it has not been able to meet the targets.
He also suggested that the levy would impose unnecessary financial strain on citizens.
His campaign promises reflect a broader effort to address pressing economic challenges faced by the country.
On the question of what he would do for young people who have the zeal to join the security services but lack the basic requirements, Mr. said his government will find other alternatives for them.
He accused the NPP of recruiting unqualified people into the security services who are unable to read and write.
He said the reason why a lot of young people want to join the security services is due to unemployment.
