The family of the Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedro III, says no other family has the authority to enstool a queenmother.
According to the family, they are the only ones clothed with the traditional rite to enstool a new queen.
Asafoatse Nii Teiko Ga II invoked prayers against persons who are currently planning to enstool a new queenmother.
The family, at a press conference last week, warned that anyone who would make attempts at enstooling a new queenmother would be struck dead.
He said the family has always been in charge of appointing a new person, dating back to about four queenmothers who were enstooled before the late Nii Dedei Omaedru III took over.
‘’Our family is the only family responsible for enstooling the queenmothers of Ga State. No other family has the authority to do that. We will not agree with anyone who would take steps towards enstooling a new queenmother.’’
He addressed journalists, disputing reports that the late queenmother had been buried.
He said the late had not been buried, as reported by some media houses.
The Asafoatse then stressed that ‘’anyone who makes the attempt at enstooling a new queen will face serious consequences. As I pour this libation, may the spirit of our late queen and that of our ancestors deal ruthlessly with you. May the gods of our land strike anyone dead. She is also warning those who want to sit on the throne when they don’t qualify to thread cautiously. Death will be your portion if you dare sit on the throne as Ga Manye. If you do not want death to be your portion, then stay away from the throne. I am doing this with pain’’.
He emphasised that only qualified persons must be enstooled with full approval from the family.
‘’I am representing the interests of the family and issuing this caution as Asafoatse. I will stress that anybody who makes the attempt to sit on the throne when they don’t qualify will be struck with death.’’
