The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to see to the completion of the National Cathedral Project if he is elected President on December 7, 2024.
He asserted that state funds have been used in the construction of the edifice so far, hence the need to complete it.
Mr. Bawumia said, ”Public funds have been invested in it. One should engage with churches and other stakeholders to decide how to complete the project. It is an important issue, he said in response to a question he was asked at his media engagement held on August 25, 2024.
The National Cathedral is a pledge made by President Akufo-Addo to God before he became president.
Although the government had said that state funds would not be used for the project, over GHC 339 million had been used to fund it.
The construction of the National Cathedral, according to the government, represents a significant moment in our country’s history.
The Cathedral provides a historic opportunity to put God at the centre of our nation’s affairs and serves as a symbol of our eternal and continuing gratitude to Him for the blessings
He continues to shower and bestow on our nation, President Akufo-Addo said.
